Our Licensed Long-term Care Nurses are Here For You

The Long Term Care plans provide seniors with the freedom to live in the comfort of their own homes. Long term care (LTC) may be needed as a result of a disability, injury, illness, terminal condition or just the general infirmity that is part of growing old. ACMC is happy to work with LTC insurance companies to help you or your loved one get the in-home care that you need.

  • What is Long Term Care?

Long-term care includes a range of services that you or your loved one may need to meet personal care needs. Most long-term care is not medical care, but rather assistance with the basic personal tasks of everyday life, sometimes called Activities of Daily Living (ADL), such as:

    • Bathing
    • Dressing
    • Using the toilet
    • Transferring (to or from bed or chair)
    • Caring for incontinence
    • Eating

Long-term care may also include assistance with everyday tasks including:

    • Housework
    • Managing money
    • Taking medication
    • Preparing and cleaning up after meals
    • Shopping
    • Using the telephone or other communication devices
    • Responding to emergency alerts such as fire alarms
  • Why Would I Need Long Term Care?

    • Age. The older you are, the more likely you will need long-term care.
    • Gender. Women outlive men by about 5 years on average and so they are more likely to live at home when they are older.
    • Disability. Having an accident or chronic illness that causes a disability. 69 percent of people age 90 or more have a disability.
    • Health status. A chronic condition such as diabetes or high blood pressure makes you more likely to need care.
    • Living arrangements. If you live alone, you’re more likely to need paid care than if you’re married or living with a partner.
  • How do I Pay for Long Term Care?

In some cases, the entire cost of LTC may be covered by your insurance policy.  In other cases, your insurance company may pay a portion of the cost and you will be responsible for the remainder.  If you are interested in a free consultation, one of our Registered Nurses will come out and meet with you.  We can also check with your insurance provider to find out which in-home services they will cover based on your individual needs.

If you or your loved one can no longer live independently, our skilled staff offers medically supervised long term care, from daily medical management to assistance with activities of daily living. If you or your loved one has LTC Insurance and is in need of in-home care, please contact us by calling 888-556-7109 or complete an online referral form today.
